omg LOL, I love this thread. Megan, I am totally "ME TOO"ing at almost everyone's list.

Heather, I loved Metallica for a portion of HS. and Pearl Jam. I was obsessed. I also loved Foo Fighters, Depeche Mode, Counting Crows, STING (and still do) ......there were so many great songs in the 90s.

I have a newfound love for "the hits". I find myself bouncing to the beat in the car on the way to bring Jax to school every morning. I am loving the new dance music. It probably isn't really "new" but I'm so out of "what's cool" these days that it seems new to me. I really lots of different music, but I have to be honest and say that I don't really love Country.....and real rap (the soft rap mixed in with dance music is cool) and heavy metal are definitely not my thing. I don't really love HARD rock either.

I like this thread! It's interesting.

I always wanted to be the cool mom who liked her kids' music (my mom did, and we thought she was so cool). My kids are too little still, but if today's pop is anything like what they'll end up listening to, I won't get to be that.

So, not today's pop, and I don't like rap, hip-hop, or hard rock. Other than that, I listen to pretty much anything else.

My favorites are:
Country - beginning in the late 90's (I used to hate all country until a friend of mine turned me on to it.)
Oldies - especially the 50's and 60's (I'm streaming the AOL Radio oldies station right now.)
Christian
Latin - pop, tropical, not as much tejano

I have two song memories. Ace of Base's "I Saw the Sign" which we heard everywhere when I was in Mexico on spring break my senior year in high school. That always makes me feel young, footloose, fancy free...and pretty stupid. LOL The second one is "We Built This City on Rock and Roll". On a family vacation in San Francisco, they played this for a laser light show on Pier 39. My brother and I went to that by ourselves one night, and it was a really cool bonding experience. That always makes me wish we were closer now.

ETA: I absolutely DESPISE the Beach Boys. I was reminded of that because they just came on AOL Radio, and I closed the station. I simply can't stand them.
