Ds has wanted Octane Gain for months. I'd never seen the other one before. We may have to start checking out TRU instead of just Target!

I always thought these cakes were great looking, but man, after trying to do a few myself with actual icing, I realized how hard it is to actually get them to look good. The icing is so hard. I don't have the right tools and definitely not the right technique. The icing gets all crumby.

The latest creation. A spice cake with apple pie filling & cream cheese frosting. The kids helped decorate it after I let the frosting firm up a bit. The "stem" of the "pimpkin" is an upside down ice cream cone painted with diluted green food coloring.

Next up: a fire truck in 2 weeks. I might actually try and work with gum paste (it'll probably depend on how much homework I get done).

Default More fun with frosting

Since the fire truck cake got postponed for a week I decided to whip up a surprise cake for my niece & nephew. They are twins & just turned 13 the other day. My sister hasn't been able to afford to have parties for any of her kids this year (& I know the boy twin asked about a party) so I decided to whip this up. It is a simple yellow cake with vanilla frosting (1/2 of which I dyed blue) and some gel.

Here is my latest cake (for my daughter's 8th birthday). Her & her best friend decorated the top layer as a pizza (the red is supposed to be pepperonies & the green is green peppers).

How Fun Katy! I just saw a cute birthday party idea where the kids decorated their own cupcakes - I think I'll have to try that sometime... when they're a little older!

I should post my newest - it's been awhile since I have!

I realized I enver put up pics of Logan's 4th birthday cake (firetruck) so here are a couple I took before I left my house with it. The frosting ended up sliding a bit by the time I got to Mindee's so I wouldn't really let her take any pics of it.

Nisha, I've done that for treats at school. I'd send frosted cupcakes & the box of misc sprinkles I have. That way each kid got to put how ever much (or little) they wanted to on theirs. They always seemed to enjoy it.
