Yeah, from my understanding it's a way to publish constant "status updates," usually from your phone. I don't see the point, really, and the people I know who use it post updates ALL the time! (And you can hook up your Twitter feed to FB so it publishes them there, too.)

I feel the same. I probably won't bother. My dh had it last fall (he's so hip and cutting edge, lol) , but he doesn't ever mess with it. The only thing I see happening is that famous people are using it, and I guess you can follow some of the famous people on their status updates. Big whoop.

I know some people keep track of news broadcasts and talk shows that way. I have also heard of some college campuses and cities using it as an emergency communication tool and for Amber alerts. There is some real potential there to be useful. But as for it's main purpose, I'm with C. Who cares what everyone is doing every second of the day? And why would I think they cared what I was doing every second of the day? Sounds like it could also be a great tool for a stalker! So I think I'll pass and rely on other sources for news and emergencies.

Ok -- so I now have a twitter account!
![]() I signed up the first part of January b/c B's new school uses it to send messages to parents - reminders, weather closings, etc. J signed up too for that reason and we have had fun sending messages back and forth with it. He is following alot of sports people now and I am following several women who write blogs I read. I am using the echofon app for iPhone to access it without having to go through safari to pull it up. It has a fun feature - you can do "close by tweets" and it will use your location and show you a google map of tweets near by - completely random people and tweets - amazing what you might see! I actually found a friend of mine the other night doing that! So, are any of you using Twitter now? |
