Usually the hair loss happens after the baby's born, but it can happen during pregnancy, too. It's all hormone-related, so things should straighten back out naturally after a few months postpartum, once your hormones return to normal (even if you're breastfeeding).

I lost SO much hair during and after pregnancy. For me, and who knows if this is an extreme case, I didn't get my hair back to it's normal thickness until about 4-5 years after having my first child. Same thing with my son. He's nearly 3 and my hair is starting to thicken up again, but still not back to my pre-pregnancy thickness. It seems like everyone is a little different. All I can say is if you're concerned about how it looks(mine also tended to be greasy and flat all the time) wear it up.

I lost hair too but mine is really thick so it wasn't a problem. I was actually happy to loose a little. Like KeelyKay my hair changed texture. My hair is pretty straight and it got super wavy in the back. My sister has really straight hair (it won't even hold a curl) and she looked like she got a perm when she was pregnant with her second. She is pregnant with her third and it didn't happen this time. I just think it is one of those strange things that happens when you are pregnant.

okay i may have under-estimated my hair loss. thing is i dont notice a lot of hair falling out, it seems like less is actually falling out. but the other day after i worked out i noticed that i have an actual bald spot. its near the front of my head in a circular patch. its really not noticeable at all unless i look for it, but i def have it. and i am afraid its going to get worse. i made a dermatologist appointment for the begining of may just to see if he can rec what i go on as soon as i give birth.... hopefully i can breastfeed AND have hair!

I don't think there's a miracle hair growth medication (there are a lot of people that have been on the hunt forever
). I'm afraid you'll probably have to just wait out the hormone craze. Things will get back to normal. If it is something other than pregnancy related, hopefully the derm will be able to figure it out.

If you're noticing bald spots, go back and make your OB listen, because mine said that it can be indicative of a hormone problem within the pregnancy. You shouldn't be finding bald spots, just all over even hair loss. You're your own best advocate. Talk until someone listens, go to another OB within the practice and talk to them if yours doesn't listen.
